The Trip of a Lifetime
If you're a surf ski paddler, you've almost certainly heard of Miller's Run—one of the most famous downwind runs in the world.
Now's your chance to experience it alongside legendary coaches Dawid and Jasper Mocke.
This is more than just a paddling holiday. It's an immersive week of elite coaching, incredible ocean conditions, and unforgettable adventures in one of the world's greatest downwind destinations.
Learn from the Best
Throughout the week you'll be coached by the Mocke brothers, widely regarded as two of the world's leading downwind paddlers and coaches. Together with Coach Luke Horder, you'll learn how to:
- Position your ski for maximum speed
- Improve timing and runner selection
- Master weight distribution
- Apply paddle power more efficiently
- Understand lift and glide
- Increase your average boat speed
- Read the ocean like a local
Whether you're looking to build confidence or chase personal bests, every session is designed to help you progress.

Every Day is Planned Around the Conditions
Each afternoon the coaching team reviews the forecast and plans the following day's paddling.
Using our dedicated van and trailer, we'll always head to the best location based on the wind.
Depending on the conditions we may paddle:
- The world-famous Miller's Run
- Secret local downwind runs known only to the Mocke team
- Other Cape Town locations offering the best conditions on the day
Our goal is simple—put you in the right place at the right time.
Coaching for Every Ability
With three coaches on the trip, paddlers are divided into groups of similar ability.
This allows every session to be tailored to your skill level, whether you're:
- Building confidence in downwind conditions
- Looking to improve efficiency
- Chasing bigger runs and higher speeds
Everyone gets the coaching and conditions they need to improve.
The Double Ski Experience
One of the highlights of the week is the opportunity to paddle a double surf ski with Dawid or Jasper Mocke.
Experience just how fast a surf ski can travel as they demonstrate perfect timing, positioning and runner connection.
It's an experience you'll never forget.
Chase the Wind
When the famous Cape Doctor wind arrives...
...we make the most of it.
On strong wind days we'll aim to complete multiple Miller's Runs—sometimes up to four runs in a single day.
If the wind takes a day off, the adventure doesn't stop.
We'll head to Muizenberg Beach, home to a famous 500-metre-long peeling wave that's perfect for surf skis.
Glide effortlessly along the wave at over 20 km/h while enjoying one of South Africa's most unique paddling experiences.
More Than Just Paddling
One of the best parts of every SHSC paddle trip is the team atmosphere.
Each day we'll share:
- Breakfast together
- Lunch after paddling
- Dinner at some of Cape Town's best restaurants
Evenings are spent relaxing, comparing Garmin data, celebrating great runs and enjoying plenty of laughs with a group of like-minded paddlers.
The friendships made on these trips often last well beyond the week.
