August Acceleration Challenge

As we start to get excited about Paris Olympics 2024, In the month of August its time to get fast! Have a crack at 200m, 500m and 1,000m courses and submit your times on the SHSC Strava (No rolling starts, must be a stand still start).
.
Strava is FREE, set up a profile and follow Sydney Harbour Surf Club. You can sync your Garmin to Strava so your activities automatically upload to Strava or you can do manual entries on Strava.
.
Its not about who has the fastest time, we want to see who improves the most over August.

The courses are to be done on flat water, however, if you do it in the bumps make sure you comment on how much swell and wind you had.

Be creative! Have a go! Submit your times!
Log your results on SHSC Strava

Take 3 for the sea

Every time you paddle is another opportunity to take 3 pieces of rubbish from Sydney Harbour. Always leave the water in a better place then you found it!

The clinic starts with Clint Robinson filming your stroke and the other 7 in your group (takes 30mins). Then we get changed and gather at the clubhouse in from of the TV. Clint will go through your video frame by frame and you can ask as many questions as you like, we also recommend for you to film Clint talking about your video so you have it saved. The clinic goes for up to 4 hours in total and is extremely valuable to you understanding the physics of paddling.

On the SHSC App buy $ button purchase the $175 ticket. Then scroll to August 19th or 20th August and book into the clinic you desire. On Saturday 19th the morning and afternoon clinics are at the Rose Bay clubhouse and on Sunday 20th August the morning and afternoon clinics are at the Mosman Clubhouse.

Meet Ed Baker

When Ed first came down to surf ski paddle at Sydney Harbour Surf Club he couldn't paddle more then 500m before needing to stop and have a big rest. His weight at the time was 132kg!

This year Ed is eating healthy and paddling 6 times per week and has gone from 132kg down to 92kg, a staggering 40kg's of weight lost.

Ed has more goals and living a much more healthier, happier life and his family, friends and paddling buddies at SHSC are all so proud of Ed.

At the end of this year Ed is paddling in the World Championships and I know when he puts on that Australian uniform the enormous achievement will sink in for him. GO ED!
