Time Trial Hit Outs

(Every 2nd Thursday)

.
From the Mosman Clubhouse every second Thursday, Coach Luke Horder will run a time trial simulation. Based on where your fitness is currently at choose to do 5km, 10km, 15km or 20km distance.

The primary goal is to improve our fitness each week and have a measuring tool to prove it. Secondly, our goals are beat our "time" each time trial and to keep increases the "distance" of the time trial as you get fitter.

We also want to know what "heart rate training zones" you should be training at in each of your paddle sessions. 220 minus your age is not a true representation of your maximal fitness effort. Knowing your Lactate Threshold Heart Rate is far more effective.

The test: Go as fast as you possibly can for 30 minutes. You’ll press the ‘Lap’ button on your tracking device when you reach the ten-minute mark and ‘Stop’ after 30 minutes. Your average heart rate from the last 20 minutes of exercise is your estimated lactate threshold heart rate (LTHR.)

Now your weekly training sessions can be broken into a high percentage of training (up to 80%) is spent at low intensities and the rest (around 20%) is run at your lactate threshold or above.
