Day 1 Jan 6th, 2025 (9am – 12pm)
Meet and greet with the Mocke Brothers (Dawid & Jasper) and have a deep dive into the skill of downwind paddling. Then enter the water for technique and skills coaching from the Mocke brothers.
Day 1 (1pm – 4pm)
Your first Millers run with the Mocke brothers coaching you. As you paddle onto runners, they will be right there guiding you on what to look for, when to go, how to surf longer.
Day 1 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Kalk Bay
Day 2 (9am – 12pm)
Learn the art of wave catching with Luke Horder – positioning, speed, angles
Day 2 (1pm – 4pm)
Millers downwind run with Luke Horder recapping on all the skills the Mocke brothers outlined the previous day
Day 2 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Cape Town
Day 3 (6am – 10am)
Hike up Lions head (90 minutes up) and gondola back down
Day 3 (12pm – 6pm)
Wine tour to the famous Franschhoek and Stellenbosch wineries
Day 3 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Kalk Bay
Day 4 (9am – 12pm)
Ocean paddle with the Mocke brothers – focusing on individual attention of where your paddling is currently at.
Day 4 (1pm – 4pm)
Your first Millers run with the Mocke brothers coaching you. As you paddle onto runners, they will be right there guiding you on what to look for, when to go, how to surf longer.
Day 4 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Cape Town
Day 5 (9am – 12pm)
Perfect the art of wave catching with Luke Horder – positioning, speed, angles
Day 5 (1pm – 4pm)
Ocean downwind run with Luke Horder and Mark Keeling. Having fun and mastering all the skills of the week
Day 5 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Kalk Bay
Day 6 (9am -12pm)
Boulders Beach to see and swim with the Penguins
Day 6 (1pm – 5pm)
Paddle around the Cape of Good Hope (14km) The Southernmost tip of Africa
Day 6 (6pm – 9pm)
Team dinner Cape Town
Day 7 Sunday 12th January
Check out and recommended you continue onto to see the big 5 in Kruger National Park or the Serengeti National Park
Day 3 is a day off to rest the body and enjoy a tour of the beautiful Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Wineries
Table mountain or Lions Head is a 90 min hike and a must on the trip
See the big five elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and rhino
Terms and Conditions:
Mocke Paddling is pleased to offer a limited number of surf skis for rent for the Sydney Harbour Surf Club team coming in January 2025 for the Mocke Downwind Camp. Our rental service includes unlimited access to the rental from Day 1 through Day 7 (January 6th – 12th), and complimentary boat storage at the Mocke Shop.
NOTE: All renters are expected to provide their own paddles, leash, and life vest (which must be worn on the water – no exceptions). If you can’t travel with your paddle for any reason, you can hire a paddle from us and all accessories such a PFD and leg leashes can be purchased from the Mocke Shop.
To confirm your rental reservation, we ask for full payment in advance, payable to Sydney Harbour Surf Club. We will do our best to accommodate your first-choice model, but supply is limited to stock on hand.
Refunds: If you must cancel your reservation for any reason, Mocke Paddling will provide a full refund on your surf ski, however, with your placement on the Downwind Camp you will only receive the full refund if we can replace your reservation from a waiting list. If we are unable to fill your cancelation the following fees will incur: 6 months out from event the cancelation fee is 25% of the total Downwind Camp cost, cancelations within 30 days of the event incur a 50% cost of the total Downwind Camp fee.
Downwind Camp fee $1750 includes 6-day surf ski hire, 2 full days with the Mocke Brothers, ocean paddling and wave catching every day with Luke Horder.
On arrival you will receive a rental contract and waiver of liability form for review and sign.

Sydney Harbour Surf Club is your tour operator for the South Africa Downwind Camp. We will book the teams accommodation, provide the hire vehicles, the hire of surf skis and all the logistics to move the team around for the week. Individuals will source their own flights to Cape Town.
The main priority is to ensure our paddlers are maximising every opportunity by being placed in the best spot with the right conditions and coaching to ensure everyone is on runners going downwind having the time of their lives.
All paddlers will need to arrive at the Hotel (TBC) in South Africa by Sunday evening 5th January 2025. The next day we will pick up our hire surf skis and sign the hire waivers. We will be on 2 x paddles per day starting from day 1 Monday 6th January.
Each day will be planned around the wind and conditions to ensure we are in the best spot at the right time. We will be aiming to start transporting towards paddles 9am – 12pm and again in the afternoon 1:30pm – 4:30pm. An afternoon wine tour in the famous Franschhoek and Stellenbosch Wineries will be organised on day 3 Wednesday 8th January to allow your bodies to rest and to unwind with the group. During the week we will swim with Penguins at Boulders beach, hike Lions Head or Table Mountain and paddle the most Southern Cape “The Cape of Good Hope”

We strongly advise you to take our travel insurance on your trip to cover you for any incidents that may occur when travelling and performing activities.
Mocke Brothers Downwind Camp costs are:
Mocke Brothers Coaching and 6 day Surf Ski hire $1,750 AUD per person.
6 nights’ Accommodation $1,700
Van hire/trailer & logistics $260 per person
